Armendariz didn’t start out as a teacher. But 17 years after embarking on a career as an elementary school educator, he earned a spot among the teachers that are considered Dallas ISD’s best.
He talked about his long career teaching the smallest of pupils, and how it changed rapidly when the pandemic struck. His story was one of People Newspapers senior account executive Kim Hurmis’s favorites from the year.
