Biediger Shines in NTPGA Summer Events
Highland Park senior Sophie Biediger capped a stellar summer by finishing as the runner-up at the George Hannon Invitational tournament on Aug. 9-10 in Austin.
Biediger’s score was 68-71—139, which tied for first place, although Biediger lost a seven-hole playoff. The event at the University of Texas Golf Club is part of the Northern Texas PGA Legends Junior Tour.
Earlier this summer, Biediger earned an eight-stroke victory in another Legends Junior Tour event at Lantana Golf Club with a three-round score of 5-under par. She also placed in the top 10 at the Texas Junior Amateur Championship in Kingwood.
Biediger is one of three captains this season for the Lady Scots, alongside Jordan McGinley and Claire Wiebe. The team — under the direction of new head coach Mercedes Trent — will begin the fall portion of the schedule on Sept. 10-11 at the Heart of Texas Championship in Fort Worth.
Other team members for HP this year include Grace Heiss, Allison McCain, Landry Saylor, and Tatum Thomason.
