SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: NEIGHBORHOOD CENSORSHIP?

A thief snagged a “Black Lives Matter” sign from a yard in the 3500 block of Crescent Avenue around 9:07 p.m. June 12.

HIGHLAND PARK 

8 Monday

Arrested at 5:46 p.m.: a 19 year old in the 4300 block of Livingston Avenue accused of driving without insurance or a valid license. 

10 Wednesday 

A porch pirate pilfered a $20 Husqvarna weed eater head, a $20 iPhone screen protector, various fishing tackle, and ear protection worth a total of $429 that were delivered to a home in the 4500 block of Westside Drive. The incident was reported at 3:49 p.m. June 10.

A thief snagged a blue and green Pure Fix bicycle with bent spoons on the handlebars from a driveway in the 3200 block of Mockingbird Lane overnight before 7 p.m.

14 Sunday

A scoundrel scratched the rear hatch of an Acura SUV on the driver’s side in the 4500 block of Fairway Avenue. The incident was reported at 3:10 p.m. 

A thief took a red Bianchi bicycle that was locked on a rack in the 4500 block of Abbott Avenue overnight before 8 p.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK

9 Tuesday 

A thief snagged a $540 TREK bicycle from the 3400 block of Amherst Street. The incident was reported at 5 p.m.

10 Wednesday 

A crook stole the identity of a woman in the 3200 block of Caruth Boulevard. The incident was reported at 12:16 p.m.

12 Friday

How easy was it for a burglar to get into a home in the 3200 block of Villanova Drive and grab a debit card, a Citi card, a Nordstrom card, a Target card, $70, a $2,000 Louis Vuitton bag, another $500 Luis Vuitton piece, an American Express card, and a couple of documents, and more around 4:08 a.m.? A door was unlocked and the garage was open.

A thief took $2,800 in items from a Mercedes G Wagon in the 3800 block of Wentwood Drive overnight before 9 a.m.

Burglar(s) damaged a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 2600 block of Fondren Drive while trying to get into it around 1 p.m.

13 Saturday

A thief drove off in a Ford Fusion with a $100 bicycle from a driveway in the 3600 block of Northwest Parkway overnight before 5:50 a.m. 

A thief snagged a $500 Gucci wallet with four Chase cards and a driver’s license between 9:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. in the 6800 block of Snider Plaza.

14 Sunday

A thief rode off in a motorcycle from a covered parking area in the 4500 block of University Boulevard. The incident was reported at 2:31 p.m.

Arrested at 6:30 p.m.: a 45-year-old man for a warrant in the 3400 block of Daniel Avenue.
