HP Sophomore Takes All-Around in Saginaw
Highland Park’s girls won the team title at a recent optional meet in Saginaw, with sophomore Linda Tran claiming the individual all-around gold medal.
Tran was victorious on three of four events — uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. HP teammate Kennedy Downing took gold on vault, in addition to finishing second on bars and third in the all-around standings.
In boys action, HP was the runner-up to defending state champion Saginaw in the team standings. HP freshman Clayton Staunton won the pommel horse title and placed second on rings. Austin Chapman grabbed second place on vault and third on floor.
Up next, the Scots will continue the optional portion of their schedule on Feb. 4 at the Mark Williams Invitational in Bedford.
