Crime Reports June 17 – 23

SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: PREGNANT PILFERING

Reported at 1:22 p.m. on June 22: the theft of a wallet from an employee at Escada at Highland Park Village. Two women – one of which was pregnant – entered the store at 6:05 p.m. on June 20. The pregnant woman asked the store associate to grab a dress from the back of the store; as the associate helped the pregnant woman try on the dress in the dressing room, the second woman went behind the counter and stole the associate’s Louis Vuitton wallet ($900). It contained a Chase credit card, $30 in cash, and other documents. The documents, including an insurance card, were found near the intersection of Harvard and Oxford Avenues.

HIGHLAND PARK

19 Wednesday

Taken overnight before 8:50 a.m.: a $151, black and green, 24-inch, 2017 children’s bicycle from the front porch of a home in the 3400 block of Harvard Avenue.

21 Friday

Just before 3:15 p.m., a man, standing approximately 5-foot, 9-inches-tall and weighing 220 pounds, grabbed 11 items from the front of the Tory Burch at Highland Park Village and ran outside, eventually getting into a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, which sped away. The list of stolen bags totaled $5,168 – six Fleming Shoulder Convertible Bags ($498 each), a Rowan Calf Hair Bag ($798), a McGraw Calf Hair Bag ($698), and three pink Fleming Wallets ($228 each). 

UNIVERSITY PARK 

17 Monday

Overnight before 9:01 a.m., repeated strikes with a rock to the front window of Bachendorf’s at The Plaza at Preston Center caused $7,000 worth of damage sometime between June 16 and June 17 at 9:23 a.m. 

At 4:14 p.m., a vandal put fireworks inside the package compartment of a group mailbox at a complex in the 3400 block of Rosedale Avenue but the fuse went out so the explosives did not detonate. 

Reported at 5:58 p.m.: An unlocked black, 2019 Audi A5 parked at the 4200 block of Shenandoah Avenue was broken into between 4 p.m. June 16 and 6 a.m. June 17. A brown wallet worth $100 was stolen. 

Reported at 8:23 p.m.: Between June 14 and 2:30 p.m. June 17, a thief took a surgical head lamp, worth $3,000, from a black, 2006 Lexus L470 at a home in the 3500 block of Centenary Drive.

18 Tuesday

Reported at 10:34 a.m.: An attempted burglary did $600 in damage to a home in the 3500 block of Asbury Avenue

Reported at 6:08 p.m.: Someone took a black, 2016 Vespa Primavera scooter, worth $3,000, between 10:30 p.m. June 17 and 6:08 p.m. June 18 from the driveway of a home in the 3100 block of Greenbrier Drive.

20 Thursday

Reported at 1:50 p.m.: The back window of a blue, 2019 Porsche Cayanne parked at the 4400 block of Lovers Lane, was broken, and several bags were stolen from inside. The bags contained a $100 Equinox handbag, $1,250 worth of clothes, and a $200 Nike product.
