HP Sweeps Team Titles at 11-5A Meet
Highland Park dominated the boys and girls team standings at the District 11-5A track and field meet on Friday at Standridge Stadium.
In the process, several HP athletes qualified for the upcoming area meet on April 18, including a handful of district gold medalists. Highlighted by Claire Cochran’s school-record time of 15.27 seconds in the girls 100 hurdles.
Boys individual event winners for the Scots were Jack Gurley (400), Sam Sloan (800), Etienne Black (pole vault), and Cooper Feagans (long jump). HP also won all three sprint relays, with Jack Liston leading the sweep.
Others advancing to the area meet include Cayden Davis, Brett Jacot, John Moss, Luke Martin, Will Agouridis, Christopher Herrod, Kyle Garberding, Kipp Miller, Christopher Peters, Carson Hart, Will Pettijohn, Whit Winfield, Cayden Davis, and Cade Meuse.
On the girls side, HP’s gold medalists included Cochran, Olivia Briggs (long jump and triple jump), Olivia Conner (high jump), Sophia Oliai (3,200), Maddy Stephens (800), Meredith Sims (300 hurdles), and Ella Patterson (400). The Lady Scots also swept all three sprint relays.
The area meet qualifiers also include Alie Lavish, Emory Brink, Phoebe Spackman, Ella Brown, Kendall Ferguson, Melenaite Pahulu, Erin Harper, Alli Grace Ott, Cameron Fawcett, Abigail Schott, Izzy Blaylock, Anastasia Helms, and Mary Warriner Kemp.
