A thrilling shootout victory lifted the Hillcrest boys into the second round of the Class 4A Region II playoffs on Thursday.
After playing to a 1-1 draw against Ferris during regulation play, the Panthers won 5-3 in penalty kicks to advance. They will play either Gainesville or Life Oak Cliff next week in the area round.
In other postseason action on Thursday, the W.T. White boys rolled past South Grand Prairie 7-2 in a Class 6A Region I bi-district game at Kincaide Stadium. The Longhorns (16-3-4) advanced to play either Southlake Carroll or Hebron next week at a time and site to be determined.
Meanwhile, the W.T. White girls saw their season end in the first round following a 4-0 loss to Mansfield Lake Ridge.
