Strong Showing for HP in Garland Meet

Highland Park’s boys and girls gymnasts each started the optional season with a runner-up finish behind Garland Lakeview on Friday.
The girls were led by a pair of freshmen. Linda Tran won on floor exercise and placed second in the all-around competition. She also was second on uneven bars and third on balance beam. Meanwhile, Kennedy Downing finished third on vault and fourth in all-around.
In boys action, Adam Elahmadi paced the Scots with individual event wins on floor, rings, and horizontal bar. Nicolas Gregory placed third on the high bar and third in all-around. Jack Smith was third on floor.
Both HP teams will next compete on Jan. 24 at Rockwall.
