Allman’s Sign Walls of the Brain Performance Institute

For the second year in a row, Allie Beth Allman & Associates has teamed with D Magazine to make a difference in the Dallas community with the D Gives initiative.

From November 1 to November 21, this unmatched effort brings many of the city’s 501(c)(3) organizations together in one place. During the initiative, Allie Beth Allman’s agents highlight their own “Charities of Choice,” which gives them the opportunity to emphasize why these organizations are important to them. With a quick click, it’s easy to help fund more than 70 North Texas charities—think women’s shelters, the arts, medical research, children’s causes, and advocacy for the homeless, among others. Each week, participating nonprofits will send D Magazine their donation updates which will be regularly shared until the effort wraps up on November 21.

“You Give Where You Live” is a company motto and way of doing business at Allie Beth Allman & Associates. “It embodies what we try to do here,” says Pierce Allman, cofounder of the Allie Beth Allman & Associates realty group. “Our agents are very active in the community. They do what is needed. There is a spirit of giving in Dallas and within our company. It takes courage to set aside vanity for purpose. Fulfilling the needs of the community we serve is part of our culture. Our agents are fired up and ready to back the effort one hundred percent.”

A native of the Park Cities, Allman accompanied his father on philanthropic outings as he was growing up. One of his earliest recollections of knowing when it was the holiday season was getting in the family’s Plymouth non-air-conditioned stick-shift and delivering food with his father to parts of Dallas he never knew existed. This memory, and many others like it, have remained important to him. And he’s in good company. “Dallas is a city that cares,” he says. “And it’s very unusual in that regard; other cities similar in size or larger don’t seem to have a reputation for compassion that Dallas has. There is much empathy and energy here.”

Pierce and his wife/business partner, Allie Beth, have carried on Pierce’s father’s legacy by supporting local charities and encouraging the real estate agents in their company to do the same. The list of organizations with which the Allmans are personally involved is lengthy, but, as Pierce says, they do not give for their own recognition. “It’s not letterhead participation that moves us,” he explains. Rather, it is giving to an organization “that is performing a genuine service for someone.”

The Allmans are proud to partner with D Magazine again this year in launching D Gives. “Whenever there is something needed that is good for the city, D Magazine is there,” says Pierce. “And with a single click, D’s readers and web users can be a part of this effort of doing good for our city. This is a unique opportunity to benefit organizations you’ve possibly never heard of. D Gives is a great way to bring awareness to a number of organizations that are making a difference every day in our community.”

When Pierce looks back on the history of Dallas, he realizes it has always been a city filled with entrepreneurs who are ready to roll up their sleeves and work together to make Dallas an even better place to live. He says for a city with no navigable river or port, it’s impressive that so many people continue to call Dallas home—more than 400 new residents per day, in fact. “We were built by entrepreneurs and that’s what real estate is. We need entrepreneurs who want to make Dallas a better place to live and cultivate a sense of contributing, which is the purpose of Allie Beth Allman & Associates sponsoring D Gives. Dallas is a place where people want to be right in the middle of things that are energizing. This belief in our civil and service organizations is refreshing, because if we lose faith in those institutions, we lose faith in the future. If you need to reinforce your faith in each other, or if you want to express your gratitude for what you’ve been given, or if it’s just compassionate action, to me, giving is part of a citizen’s responsibility.”
