Sandra Koenig Dingler
Mrs. Sandra (Koenig) “Sandy” Dingler, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at age 74 on September 17, 2018 in Dallas after fighting a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Sandra leaves a legacy of grace, family and friends who loved her dearly and appreciated her kind spirit, creative talent, giving heart, enduring faith, her sense of humor and strength of character throughout her life. Sandra was the loving wife of Jack Dingler for the past 37 years. Their love and devotion to one another was evident to all that knew them.
Sandra was born on June 24, 1944 in Houston, Texas, to Loma Henson Koenig and Fred William Koenig and raised in Rosenberg, Texas near Houston. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1962, where she was not only a good student but also a drum majorette and involved in many activities. She attended college at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1966, and later received a master’s degree from Southern Methodist University.
Family was of utmost importance to Sandra and she spent countless hours preparing for and entertaining the family and friends that frequently gathered at the home she shared with Jack. Sandra was creative and had passions for event and floral design, hosting parties and entertaining, cooking, reading, painting, attending the theater and symphony, serving her community, spending time with family and friends and devoting time to cultivating her business. She was beautiful, kind, artistic and musically talented. It seemed like there was nothing she couldn’t do with flair and elegance. Sandra led her life with gracefulness, a strong appreciation and love for family and a comfort in faith to guide her through life.
Her life’s work in the event planning industry spanned many decades, as she was the owner of Dallas-based Party Service and the owner, editor and publisher of The Dallas Social Directory. She served and supported her community through her longtime membership in a number of charitable and cultural organizations – the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Arboretum. Sandra supported the city she loved through her support and service to the Dallas Historical Society, Preservation Dallas and by serving on the board of the Arlington Hall & Lee Park Conservancy.
Sandra is survived by her husband Jack Dingler; daughters, Allison Horton (husband Rob) and Alexis Hansen (husband Jeremiah); stepson, Jack Dingler Jr. (wife Irene); and stepdaughter, Alison Randolph; brothers, Gordon Lee Koenig and Jim Koenig (wife Mary); sister, Carol Sue Hausler; and nieces, Morgan Koenig and Madison Koenig. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Wayne Koenig (wife Carole). She also has five grandchildren who loved their Mimi dearly: Mary Grayson Horton, Cole Horton and Wynne Horton; Luke Hansen and Carter Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Sandra Dingler to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance at ocrfa.org. A memorial and celebration of life for Sandra will take place with family and friends on Saturday, September 29.
Allison and Alexis, please know now sorry I am for the loss of your mother. And I’m sorry for the loss to her grandchildren as well. Sandy was a lovely woman with a warm sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was kind, and obviously devoted to Jack. In April I was fortunate to enjoy a nice visit with your mother while I was in Dallas. She will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of Sandr’s passing. Talk about a great spirit. As a musician and band leader, I worked with Sandra over several years. She taught me how to plan and organize
an event. I loved this lady. What an incredible person.

I had Sandy on my mind and tried to call her on her birthday and discovered her phone was disconnected. I decided to google her and saw she had passed. She and I became good friends years ago after she taught me college English. We met for lunch several years ago after I moved away. I called two times since but she was gone and spoke to Jack. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Sandy dearly and regret not keeping in touch. Please let me know if possible how Jack is doing.
Lynda, Sandy was my oldest sister and she died about a month before Jack. Yours, Gordon
Gordon, you and I met years ago. Do you know if Jack had an obituary or how I could reach a family member? I would like to know his full name and birthdate. I was devastated to learn about Sandy’s death. Hope you are well. Lynda
