Scots Cruise in Season-Opening Tourney
It was a successful opening weekend of the season for the Highland Park tennis team, which is aiming for another Class 5A state title in November.
Highland Park’s defense of its Class 5A state title got off to a terrific start at a season-opening tournament co-hosted by the Scots and Plano West on Aug. 25.
HP won all four of its matches in convincing fashion, against Keller (10-0), Coppell (10-1), Allen (10-1), and Plano West (10-1). They are scheduled to host Coppell again on Friday.
The Scots featured a mix of returnees and newcomers at the tournament, including Rhett Bailey, Cole Burnam, Mikhail Commer, Skyler Carter, Hank Scott, Ray Saalfield, McKay Harman, Katherine Petty, Bridget Stammel, Annika Juergens, Lizanne Boyer, Ashlee Newton, Hayden Bethea, Nell Covington, and Cambelle Henderson.
