New Mockingbird Station Eatery Cools Down Summer
Opened just in time for the Dog Days of a Dallas summer, Mockingbird Station’s newest eatery makes cooling down taste better than ever.
Rush Bowls, which officially opened in Dallas last Friday, hosts a large selection of frozen treats ranging in flavors from Chai’s Mystique to a Bow Wow bowl perfect for your four-legged friends.
The owners, husband and wife Ted and Elizabeth Bachmeier, welcomed me to the store opening day and after careful consideration of the menu, I decided to indulge in the Peanut Butter & Jelly comfort bowl.
The bowl, pictured above, begins with a creamy banana, strawberry, and peanut butter base and is topped with organic granola and peanut butter and jelly made fresh in the store.
It was delicious.
Beyond the flavor, which was divine, I especially liked that the bowl was customizable (so I could make it vegan) and that all the ingredients were natural. No artificial sweeteners, additives, or preserves.
The bowls also aren’t just a treat; they’re really a meal in a bowl and jam-packed with veggies, fruits, and protein.

Another awesome perk about the Dallas franchise is that the Bachmeiers are donating 10 percent of profits to The Birthday Party Project. Much like Rush Bowls, the nonprofit’s mission is pretty simple: to bring JOY to homeless children through the magic of birthdays.
So, whether you’re looking for a treat after a bike ride on the Katy Trail, a movie at the Angelika Film Center, or dealing with rush hour on 75, I’d say Rush Bowls is worth a stop.
And if you’re really adventurous and try their seasonal Spicy Bowl – mango, strawberry, lemonade, and cayenne pepper topped with organic granola and honey, make sure to share it with us on Instagram #peoplenewspapersoutandabout.
