School of Rock is Coming to Dallas
Class is now in session.
Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webster’s high-octane Broadway and West End hit ‘School of Rock – The Musical’ will premiere this August at the Music Hall at Fair Park.
The smash hit will make a run in Dallas from Aug. 15 – 26 and then head to Fort Worth where it will play at Bass Hall Aug. 28 – Sept. 2. Tickets, which start at $20, are on sale now at dallassummermusicals.org.
‘School of Rock – The Musical’ is based on the 2003 film of the same, featuring music from the movie, as well as an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band.
The musical opened on Broadway to rave reviews December 2015. The Ben Brantley New York Times ‘Critics’ Pick’ is an inspiring jolt of energy and mad skills, said Jesse Oxfeld of Entertainment Weekly. ‘School of Rock – The Musical’ was nominated for four 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Leading Actor in a Musical. It won the 2017 Oliver award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.
The show ends the 2017-18 Dallas Summer Musical season.
Dallas Summer Musicals will continue to bring the best of Broadway to Dallas in the 2018-19 season with shows such as ‘Hamilton,’ Disney’s ‘Aladdin,’ and ‘Fiddler on the Roof.’
