What is the best advice you received when beginning your career? My first legal mentor, Bruce Martin, an attorney in Wichita Falls, taught me that the real key to being a good trial lawyer is to be the most prepared person in the courtroom.
What is your business philosophy? My philosophy is to offer the highest level of representation possible to each client, while always being mindful of: 1) the emotional and financial needs of the family; 2) the efficiency of the path being taken.
What inspires you? I am inspired by change and growth in life. The fact that a person’s current situation does not have to be his or her final situation. Our world is full of opportunities to achieve growth and success – on a professional level, but more so on a personal level. My husband always says it is about progress, not perfection. The fact that I am not perfect now, and I won’t be tomorrow, but that I, for the rest of my life, can continue to make progress forward each day makes life worth living.
If you could tell 16-year-old you anything, what would you say? I would tell her to not be so concerned about what other people think.
What is your proudest career accomplishment? I am most proud to be a part of my law firm. I have the opportunity each day to work with and learn from the most incredible group of attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
What was your first summer job? I worked at the skating rink! I like to remind everyone at my office frequently that I began developing my courtroom skills as the DJ of the skating rink.
What do you love about your community? The Park Cities community is a special place. It is a small town in the middle of the big city. Everyone knows each other and there is a special emphasis on supporting the community (i.e. supporting local business, community-based activities for the family, etc.).
Where is the best place for a business power lunch in Park Cities or Preston Hollow? Sevy’s. It has been a go-to for our firm for years.
What is your fondest Park Cities or Preston Hollow memory? The University Park Firecracker 5k held on the 4th of July each year just before the parade!
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Traveling with my husband! This summer we plan on cooling off in the mountains in Park City, Utah.
What do you want your last meal to be? A perfect steak grilled at home
What is your favorite color? Pink
What fictional world or place would you like to visit? I would want to go to Florin, which is the country in which Princess Buttercup lives in the movie The Princess Bride. I have a very long and enduring obsession with the Princess Bride.
If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose? I would love to be on Chopped because I love to cook.
What would your superpower be? Teleportation!
