Caroline Thompson ended up in Dallas as an up-and-coming real estate agent, but her path to North Texas wound through 18 houses in three different states. A Park Cities native, Thompson attended The Episcopal School of Dallas through sixth grade before heading off to New Mexico, and then California. The third-generation real estate professional loves to give back to her community and is involved in the Junior League of Dallas, the Dallas Cotillion Club, and the Slipper Club of Dallas. She also is an active volunteer at the Perot Museum.
What is the best advice you received when beginning your career? “Every deal is different from the one before it,” and “time doesn’t help a real estate deal.” These echo in my head, courtesy of my Father & fellow Real Estate-alumni. These wise words prompt me to be thorough, ask questions, and be smart with my time.
What is your business philosophy? Listen to the client’s needs very carefully; Be consistent; Follow through, clearly communicate, and give the best service and guidance to each of my Clients.
What inspires you? Being successful and knowledgeable in my business – sharing my knowledge with my Clients so they can make an informed decision about buying, selling, leasing, and to earn their business, and the referrals of their friends and family to me.
If you could tell 16-year-old you anything, what would you say? The first job you have will not be your last. I have a marketing & sales background, and my other business/job experiences were key to rounding out my skills before I entered into the Real Estate business as a 3rd generation Residential Agent. My prior career experience has been a great foundation for real estate.
What is your proudest career accomplishment? Real Estate has so many victories, like negotiating the best outcome for your Client, and making both parties have a win-win experience! But the biggest yet was selling over $3.5 million in properties in a week!
What did you learn from your best boss or mentor? Get creative in order to get things done, and never taking no for an answer.
What was your first summer job? Besides babysitting, I worked in sales at a retail boutique in the summers. However, I spent most the money I made in retail on what I was supposed to be selling!
What do you love about your community? Dallas is a “can do” city. At every turn, others have been there to encourage and support my efforts, and I’m so grateful for that. There are such welcoming, warm, & fabulous people everywhere you go in this city!
Where is the best place for a business power lunch in Park Cities or Preston Hollow? True Food Kitchen is a staple for business lunches.
What is your fondest Park Cities or Preston Hollow memory? The Park Cities 4th of July Parades were always my favorite days spent with family and friends!
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Real estate never sleeps! But in the off chance that it takes a brief nap, I’ll be spending time with friends, checking out museums, live music, enjoying the Katy Trail, or visiting my family in Santa Barbara, CA.
What do you want your last meal to be? My mom’s home-made pesto pasta or a close second would be Mi Cocina queso & fajitas!
What is your favorite color? Sea Foam Green
What fictional world or place would you like to visit? The Maldives is on my bucket list.
If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose? I wish I could say Million Dollar Listing and take the opportunity to shift the way Real Estate Agents are portrayed in the media, but that’s boring… so I’ll go with being a judge on The Voice as it seems entertaining.
What would your superpower be? Wisdom! Or flying – so I can bypass Dallas traffic & get to all of my appointments quickly!
