Preston Hollow Mosquito Sample Tests Positive for West Nile

Another mosquito sample in Preston Hollow has tested positive for West Nile, Dallas County Health & Human Services announced on Monday.

So far, two samples have tested positive for the virus in the 75230 zip code, which stretches north from Walnut Hill Lane, between Central Expressway and Dallas North Tollway, to Interstate 635.

DCHHS also reported the first positive test in the 75208 zip code, located mostly south of I-35 and including the Bishop Arts District, Winnetka Heights, and Kessler neighborhoods.

The agencies has yet to report any human cases of the virus this year.

Health officials urge the public to take protective measures by utilizing the ‘4Ds’ to reduce the risk of West Nile virus:

DEET All Day, Every Day: Whenever you’re outside, use insect repellants that contain DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus.

DRESS: Wear long, loose and light-colored clothing outside.

DRAIN: Remove all areas of standing water in and around your home.

DUSK & DAWN: Limit outdoor activities during dusk and dawn hours when mosquitoes are most active.
