Hackberry Creek Plan Meeting Set for Jan. 25

Town officials hope to address erosion and other problems in Hackberry Creek.

The town of Highland Park is working with consultants this spring to develop a Hackberry Creek Master Plan

The conceptual design document will contain recommendations and identify priorities for guiding the design and development of projects for conserving and restoring Hackberry Creek. Improvements are intended to enhance the natural beauty of the creek and adjacent corridor and meet the needs of future generations, according to hptx.org.

Visit the town’s master plan webpage for more information and to participate in a survey. The town also has scheduled a public workshop for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria at Armstrong Elementary School, 3600 Cornell Ave. (Use the entrance facing St. Johns Drive, next to the outdoor seating area.).

The meeting will begin with an open house including displays and maps to view. A brief overview will follow before participants divide into break-out groups to discuss the project and share ideas.
