Highland Park tumbled out of a tie for first place in the District 15-5A standings on Tuesday following a 57-52 home loss to Royse City.

Michael McMonigle scored 15 points and Reilly Seebold added 14 to pace the Scots (13-8, 2-2), who were outscored 22-4 in the second quarter and never caught up.

The loss followed an impressive 50-35 road win over Forney in which HP posted its best defensive game of the season in terms of points allowed. Preston Landes led the Scots with 12 points, while McMonigle contributed 11.

HP has a pair of road games next, beginning with last-place Wylie East on Friday and followed by Lovejoy on Jan. 16.
