HOW THE GRINCH STOLE INFLATABLE CHRISTMAS
Between 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 9 a.m. Dec. 10, a thief stole a four foot tall illuminated inflatable Santa Claus from the front yard of a house in the 4400 block of Fairfax Avenue.
HIGHLAND PARK
6 TUESDAY
At 10:39 a.m., a victim reported two firearms, a 9mm revolver and a 1911 Colt 45 both valued at $1,000, stolen sometime between June 1 and Nov. 15 from a house in the 3800 block of Potomac Avenue.
7 WEDNESDAY
At 2:41 p.m., Servall Contractor Services reported a $5,000 dumpster stolen from the 3500 block of Beverly Drive sometime between 8 a.m. Jan. 4 and 8 a.m. Jan. 5.
At 5:30 p.m., a shopper stole a $595 pair of mens cashmere suede gloves and a $695 purple scarf with white dots from Loro Piana in Highland Park Village after spending $7,891.43 on another pair of gloves, a scarf, and a hat. The shopper returned two days later to return the items he had taken, saying it was a mistake.
9 FRIDAY
After 11:15 p.m., a thief stole a $10,500 navy 2007 Lexus ES350 in the 4300 block of Westway Avenue.

7 WEDNESDAY
At 8:01 a.m., a victim reported that a wedding ring, a pair of platinum rings valued at $11,910, was stolen between 10 p.m. Nov. 30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 1 from a house in the 6300 block of Westchester Drive.
At 10:27 a.m., a thief stole a $1,500 power hand tool from a white 2004 Ford E250 in the 3300 block of Amherst Street.
At 3:13 p.m., two shoplifters stole $569 of merchandise from Barbeques Galore in the 4300 block of Lovers Lane.
After midnight, a burglar broke into a white 2011 Chevrolet Suburban in the 3900 block of Amherst Street.
8 THURSDAY
Between 10 p.m. Dec. 7 and 10 a.m. Dec. 8, a thief stole $650 of property from a brown 2011 Buick Enclave in the 3200 block of Bryn Mawr Drive.
9 FRIDAY
At 12:39 a.m., a victim reported a prowler outside a house in the 4200 block of Normandy Avenue. Gideon Paul Harder, 29, of Dallas, was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass. He said he was the victim’s boyfriend. The victim said he was not. The next night, the same victim reported receiving frequent, harassing text messages.
At 5:50 p.m., a burglar broke into a white 2004 Ford Ranger in the parking lot of Preston Center and stole blank checks.
10 SATURDAY
At 1:57 a.m., officers responded to a welfare concern of child negligence at the Chevron gas station in Preston Center.
Between 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and 8 a.m. Dec. 10, a burglar broke into a black 2012 GMC Yukon in the 3600 block of Purdue Street and stole the third row seats, valued at $3,300.
At 4:32 p.m., burglars stole $8,563.97 of property, including two laptops, four iPads, four XBOXes, a cell phone, jewelry, clothing, cash, and an American Express credit card from a house in the 2700 block of Westminster Avenue. Two minors were taken into custody.
11 SUNDAY
At 3:40 a.m., Andrew Hutchinson Collins, 20, of Dallas, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication in the 3400 block of Stanford Avenue.
