Ursuline Talks Body Image
Olympic gold medalist Michelle Carter discussed healthy body image and positive thinking during Ursuline’s Wellness Week Oct. 18-21.
Carter, who attended Red Oak High School south of Dallas, medaled in shot put during this summer’s Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. She was the first American woman to do so since 1960.
“I throw a ball in some dirt and I wear lashes and lipstick when I do it,” Carter said. “You can be all woman and be the best in the world.”
Ursuline’s annual Wellness Week focuses on issues relevant to the emotional and physical well-being of teenagers.
“I love encouraging girls to be the best they can be,” Carter said. “High school is the time you’re figuring out stuff, and you’re growing. I just want them to know they can accomplish their goals and dreams.
