Novakov Takes Over for Nady at Parish
When it came to replacing the only football coach in program history, Parish Episcopal didn’t need to look very far.
Daniel Novakov, the school’s offensive coordinator for the past five years, will take over for Scott Nady on the Parish sidelines next season.
Nady announced last summer that he was stepping down after the 2016 season after leading the Panthers to TAPPS state titles in 2010 and 2014. Nady has directed the Parish program since it began in 2003.
Novakov has engineered a Parish offense that has ranked among the top units in the Dallas area for the past several years. The Panthers averaged more than 53 points per game this season in 12 games behind dual-threat quarterback Jeremy Hodge, who is verbally committed to New Mexico State.
“It is truly a dream come true for me to lead such a well-respected program at a prestigious school like Parish Episcopal,” Novakov said in a press release. “I am both humbled and honored to accept the position.”
Novakov, the son of Cotton Bowl Athletic Association chairman Dan Novakov, is a graduate of St. Mark’s and the University of Notre Dame who been an assistant coach for more than a decade at the high school, college, and professional levels. He also works as the major gift officer at Parish.
Nady, meanwhile, grew up in Preston Hollow and was a standout for W.T. White during the late 1980s. He built San Leandro High School into a powerhouse in California before returning to the Dallas area to launch the football program at Parish.
Under his leadership, the Panthers have made 10 straight playoff appearances. They finished 7-5 this year in their first season at the highest TAPPS classification.
