HP Tree Lighting Set for Thursday

Highland Park will host its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the “Big Pecan Tree” on Armstrong Parkway near the intersection of Preston Road. The tree will be wrapped with more than 5,000 lights that will shine nightly through Jan 1.

The Highland Park Lads and Lassies will sing Christmas carols during the festivities. There will also be face painting, a photobus, and a live reindeer.

Santa Claus himself will make an appearance. He is expected to arrive atop an HP Department of Public Safety fire truck.  Children will be able to leave letters for him at a designated location.

Mayor Joel Williams has the honor of turning on the lights. Several town council members will also be in attendance.
