Recent Grads Make Dallas Bucket Lists
Before they head off to colleges across the country, recent Preston Hollow high school grads shared with us what they’ll miss most about Dallas and what they absolutely must do before they leave town.

1. Before you leave Dallas and move on to your next adventures, where is a must-go place?
EB: “My friend Allie Charlton and I were sifting through our bucket list one night, and we both wanted to take a trip to Galaxy, the drive-in movie theater in Ennis, TX. The idea of road tripping to the destination (while listening to Allie’s “good vibes” playlist) as well as being outside while watching a movie combines our interests the best.”
WC: “I think one place that I’ve never been before but definitely plan on going to this summer is Pecan Lodge down in Deep Ellum. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard how delicious their barbecue is.”
ER: “I have never been to Reunion Tower, but I want to take some pictures of Dallas from that view to hang in my dorm room for next year. I would also really like to go to the thrift store Buffalo Exchange to hopefully find some trendy and inexpensive clothes that I can wear to college events.”
RS: “I want to try Whisk Crepes Cafe in Oak Cliff before I leave Dallas. My parents have been telling me all about it, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.”
2. What event in Dallas is on your summer bucket list?
EB: “Originally on Allie and I’s bucket list, we reserved going to Six Flags as an option for missing school. However, since school is over now, we could still go to Six Flags just for fun and to hang out with friends.”
WC: “For this past Valentine’s Day, my parents got me these tickets to take a friend and me indoor skydiving. To be honest, I really had never thought of going skydiving before this, but once I received these tickets, it’s definitely something I’m looking forward to doing before I leave for school.”
ER: “I want to start selling my cards, including birthday and thank you ones, that I make using watercolor paints. After seeing how profitable small jewelry businesses have become, I was inspired to create my own small business selling something unique.”
RS: “I am hoping to go to the Dixie Chicks concert at Gexa Energy Pavilion in August. I grew up listening to them, and two of the members of the group actually went to Greenhill.”
3. What will you miss the most about Dallas?
EB: “For me personally, I am going to miss the architecture of Downtown Dallas and having the liberty to drive around at night on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. I think both Allie and I will miss the adventure that comes with exploring our city, but by the same token, this will give us all the more ??? to expand our horizons beyond Texas.”
WC: “What I’ll miss most about Dallas is just its homeliness. I know that sounds clichéd, but having lived here all of my life, I have come to know the city like the back of my hand. I know how to beat traffic, and I know all of the good, classic places to eat. I know that eventually I’ll become that way in Nashville, but it’ll definitely have a different feel to it since it isn’t Dallas and isn’t my hometown.”
ER: “I will definitely miss White Rock Lake. I ran cross country there my junior and senior year, and in my opinion, it is one of the prettiest places in Dallas.”
RS: “I will miss how there are so many different areas in Dallas all with unique personalities. Most importantly however, I will miss it because it is where my friends and family are.”
