Luncheon Celebrates CAN DO Spirit Awards
The Wilkinson Center hosted their 4th annual CAN DO luncheon May 10 at the Dallas Country Club to celebrate entrepreneurship in philanthropy – the “CAN DO” spirit.
North Texas Food Bank and Regina Montoya, chair of the mayor’s Task Force on Poverty, received the 2016 Can Do! Awards, along with two Wilkinson Center clients, Marilu Rodriguez and Christina Parks, who are both in the Adult Education program.
Sara Albert served as luncheon chair. At the luncheon, guests saw videos highlighting the four award recipients and their work in the community. Guests also participated in a Text to Give campaign that raised funds for Wilkinson Center programs. The luncheon ended with a closing song from Karla Nivens, Worship Leader for Cornerstone at Highland Park Methodist Church, accompanied by pianist Dante Andrade.
