This PSA Brought To You By Lt. Lance Koppa

After navigating the gushing waters on my way to church this morning, I found this email in my inbox from Highland Park spokesman Lt. Lance Koppa. As I hydroplaned at least once this morning, I found it particularly relevant. Be safe out there folks.

“The DFW area is under a Flash Flood Watch Sunday through Tuesday morning. Rainfall estimates are as little as 3 inches to as high as 9 inches. We will be watching the rainfall carefully – monitor your favorite local media outlet to get the latest weather information for our area.

Please, do not risk driving through high water. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but years ago I attempted to drive my 1989 Firebird Formula through curb-high water: the motor locked up almost immediately. Not fun, and it was an expensive repair.

Play it safe – the National Weather Service has created a helpful video and webpage which emphasize the dangers of water covered roadways: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/water/tadd/

Thank you,
Lt. Lance Koppa”
