Skulduggery of the Week: Champagne Taste on a Five-Finger Budget

At 11:41 a.m. on Feb. 29, an employee of Tom Thumb in Snider Plaza reported a shoplifter stole 24 bottles of champagne, valued at $1,805.76, using a shopping cart at 3:22 p.m. on Feb. 28.

HIGHLAND PARK

1 TUESDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 29 and 5:30 a.m. on March 1, a thief entered a backyard and detached garage at a house in the 3100 block of Cornell Avenue and stole a $100 Shop-Vac, four tennis racquets worth $500, and a $3,000 50-inch Samsung TV. The thief also entered a black 2014 Mercedes GL450 and a black 2015 Mercedes SL5 and stole a $300 pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and $10 cash.

2 WEDNESDAY
At 4:27 a.m., David Troy Hudson, 44, of Highland Park, was arrested in the 4300 block of Lomo Alto Drive on a charge of public intoxication.

4 THURSDAY
At 3:03 p.m., a resident of the 4500 block of Lorraine Avenue reported the theft of a package containing a bar of soap and a decorative box, valued at $15, at 3:03 p.m. on Feb. 12.

5 SATURDAY
At 11:53 a.m., Adrian Guzman, 24, of Dallas, was arrested in the 3600 block of Cornell Avenue on a charge of possession of marijuana.

6 SUNDAY
At 2:55 a.m., Michael Steve Calvache, 20, of Fort Worth, was arrested in the 3300 block of Beverly Drive on a charge of public intoxication.

 

UNIVERSITY PARK

29 MONDAY
At 5:15 p.m., a scoundrel verbally threatened a person in the 6700 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

At 11 p.m., John Rodman Steele, 20, of Highland Park, was arrested in the 2800 block of Fondren Drive on a charge of public intoxication.

2 WEDNESDAY
At 12:17 a.m., a vandal caused $5,000 in damage with a baseball bat to a tan 2015 Buick Enclave in the 3500 block of Hanover Street.

Between 9 p.m. on March 1 and 5 p.m. on March 2, a thief entered a garage with a stolen garage door opener in the 2800 block of Fondren Drive. Nothing was stolen.

At 5:58 p.m., a resident of the 3500 block of Southwestern Boulevard reported a thief entered a silver 2011 Mercedes SW and stole $85 in cash and a $100 Unk wallet.

Between 10 p.m. on March 1 and 8 a.m. on March 2, a thief stole a $500 Insignia television from the patio of a house in the 2900 block of McFarlin Boulevard.

4 FRIDAY
Between 11:45 a.m. and 3 p.m., a vandal cut the tires of a black 2012 Infinity QX56 in Snider Plaza.

At 5:15 p.m., Gary Eugene Page, 34, of University Park, was arrested in the 4100 block of Normandy Avenue on a charge of public intoxication.
