RIP Rusty Massey
University Park Fire Department Battalion Chief Russell “Rusty” Benton Massey dedicated 16 years of service and hard work to the city.
Massey, 45, died on Feb. 11, after a hard battle with kidney cancer.
Along with his dedication to University Park, Massey was deployed to New Orleans in 2005 as part of a search and rescue team following Hurricane Katrina. He was a driving force behind the creation of the UPFD Honor Guard, and Pipe and Drums Band.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Feb. 19 at Park Cities Baptist Church, with a procession to Restland Cemetery to occur immediately following the tribute.
