Be the Next Pawn Star

HPISD’s elementary students will be introduced to a new world of competitive chess by HPHS’ Chess Club. On Feb. 21, the Scot’s Chess Club will host a competition at the Mathnasium in Snider Plaza in hopes to get elementary students immersed in the cultivating game of chess.

Along with serving as a competition and learning experience, the Scot’s will be raising money for their team to travel to Atlanta for the national championships in April with hopes to finish within the top 20.

Between tournament rounds and games, members of the Scot’s chess club will provide lessons for elementary students who have an interest in the game or are looking to learn more techniques.

Registration fee for elementary students is $20, and the fee for non-HPISD students is $25.

Parents are invited to participate in a silent auction, and all efforts made will go towards the fundraiser.

Contact Neil Krasnoff for any questions about the event.
