For Steve Miller, a musical journey that began during his time at St. Mark’s will reach the pinnacle next year with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The catalog of classic blues-influenced rock hits from the Steve Miller Band includes “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,” Fly Like an Eagle,” and “Jet Airliner.”

Miller, 72, still recalls fondly spending some of his formative years at St. Mark’s during the 1950s. He still visits the school occasionally, most recently in February, when he spoke at a school assembly and jammed with some music students.

“From the Space Cowboy, the Joker, Maurice and the Gangster of Luv and everybody who has played with us through the years, thank you to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and to all the fans who voted for us,” Miller said in a statement.

The induction ceremony will be April 8 in Cleveland.
