It was a long but triumphant weekend for HP at the regional tournament in Mansfield.

Neither the rain nor three of the top teams in the region could keep Highland Park from its annual trip to the state tennis tournament.

The Scots rolled through the Class 6A Region II tournament over the weekend in Mansfield, defeating Austin Westlake 10-4 on Sunday night for the regional title. HP topped The Woodlands College Park in the quarterfinals and Round Rock Westwood in the semifinals.

The Scots will try for their eighth straight state championship, and second at the 6A level, on Nov. 11-12 in College Station.
