Amid this week’s new cinematic offerings is Bone Tomahawk, an ultraviolent Western with cannibals starring Kurt Russell that opens tomorrow at the Angelika Film Center in Mockingbird Station.

Why is this significant? The film is highest profile project yet from Caliber Media, a production company co-founded by Highland Park High School graduate Dallas Sonnier.

We profiled Sonnier’s inspirational story of tragedy and triumph last year, after the film wrapped production and was seeking a distributor. Now that deal is in place, and you can see the movie this weekend.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal has an update on the personal side of Sonnier’s story, involving the ongoing trial for the man accused of killing his father.

Thank you Todd and PCP for all the support! To anyone interested, please join producer Dallas Sonnier at the Angelika this weekend to see BONE TOMAHAWK – specifically he is attending the 7:10 pm screening on Saturday with several of his family/friends, and will host a brief Q&A after the showing. Please come say hello!
