Police Standoff on Abbott Ends Peacefully
A police standoff provided some tense moments in the 4800 block of Abbott Avenue on Sunday before Highland Park Department of Public Safety officers made an arrest.
WFAA-TV (Channel 8) has some details on the incident, which apparently began with a domestic disturbance and lasted several hours, involving SWAT officers. After a woman left the scene, a man who barricaded himself inside the house was taken into custody about 10:30 p.m. Nobody was injured.
HPDPS officials said the incident was isolated to one address, and led to the closure of Abbott between Euclid and Harvard to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The town urged residents in the area to stay inside and cautioned others to avoid the area.
