Just one year after Brent Herling rounded up his fellow W.T. White grads and Preston Forest residents to restore the mural along Forest Lane, a driver rammed into the wall and caused severe damage.
“The wall took a hard hit today,” Herling wrote in the group’s Facebook page. “For some reason the two wounded occupants took off on foot.”
According to the police report, a 2007 Toyota pickup jumped the median and landed in the wall around 6:40 p.m. on Sunday. The driver and passenger fled before paramedics arrived. There was blood on the scene, so police suspect the pair may have suffered head injuries. There’s no word on whether the truck was stolen, and the owner’s name has not been released. The DMN has more.
