HP Resident Robbed at Gunpoint Overnight

Highland Park police are investigating an aggravated robbery at gunpoint that started about 1:40 a.m. this morning in the 3200 block of Cornell Avenue.

That’s when two men attacked a homeowner in their backyard after entering through an unlocked gate. One of the robbers pulled a handgun and demanded money, at which time the victim drove him to an ATM to withdraw cash. Then they return to the victim’s house, where the two perpetrators grabbed some jewelry and credit cards, and fled in a green Mitsubishi sedan.

There were no injuries, and Highland Park Department of Public Safety officials believe it’s an isolated incident based on evidence they’ve collected so far. The attackers remain at large, although investigators are pursuing some leads.
