YMCA Construction Hours to Change
It rained a lot in May — 25 out of 31 days, to be exact. Because of that, the YMCA lost some time on its rebuild (not the full 25 days, however).
Prior to now, construction crews have been working from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to avoid inconveniencing the neighborhood. However, they will start using their entire allotted time period — 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. — as of June 15 in order to make up for lost time. These hours are for Monday through Saturday, however. There’s still no work on Sunday.
“By adding two hours a day within our approved time frame, we will regain almost a week of work each month to our timeline that has been lost due to the weather,” said Roger Moon, executive director of the Moody Family YMCA.
Once HPISD goes back to class on Aug. 24, the shorter hours will resume.
“Our goal has been to complete this new YMCA construction project in the shortest amount of time while doing our best to minimize the headaches and hassles to the neighbors,” Moon said. “We hope that everyone will understand our desire to shorten the construction duration … during these summer months when traffic in our community is less than normal.”
