Skulduggery of the week: Pain at the Pump
At 5:40 p.m., a pickpocket stole a $20 Old Navy purse containing a $40 Coach wallet and $30 in cash from the front seat of a gray 2010 Ford SUV at a gas station in the 8400 block of Preston Road.
HIGHLAND PARK
1 MONDAY
Between May 25 and June 1, a thief stole a $4,200 Trane air-conditioning unit and cut the copper wires to a second unit at a vacant house in the 4600 block of Belclaire Avenue.
2 TUESDAY
At 8:26 p.m., Dameon Devon Pearson, 29, was arrested in the 4600 block of Bowser Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
4 THURSDAY
Between 12:30 and 12:47 p.m., a thief stole $800 worth of Stihl landscaping equipment from the back of a white 2002 GMC pickup in the 3500 block of Beverly Drive.
UNIVERSITY PARK
1 MONDAY
Between May 23 and June 1, a burglar broke into a red 2008 Jeep Wrangler in the 3200 block of Lovers Lane and stole $400 worth of assorted items.
2 TUESDAY
At 8:18 a.m., a resident of the 2900 block of Daniel Avenuereported the theft of a $15,000 Skibell necklace, $3,000 in cash, and a $470 Louis Vuitton purse from a house sometime since Dec. 15, 2014.
4 THURSDAY
Between 10:30 p.m. on June 3 and 7 a.m. on June 4, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $1,200, from a white 2015 GMC Yukon in the 3900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive. During the same time frame, the tires and rims were taken from a gray 2015 Yukon in the 3900 block of Southwestern Boulevard.
At 6:49 p.m., a miscreant tried to use a fake credit card six times at various businesses in Snider Plaza.
7 SUNDAY
At 3:01 a.m., burglars broke into Preston Road Pharmacy in the 6900 block of Preston Road, but didn’t steal anything before triggering an alarm.
