Hannah Miller will continue her track and field career at Johns Hopkins University after signing a National Letter of Intent last week.
Miller started running in fifth grade at Mary Immaculate. She has run varsity track with the Bears since her freshman year and ran a meet record 44.3 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles at the TAPPS state meet in 2014. Hannah finished third in the same event at state this year.
“I am absolutely thrilled about attending Hopkins,” said Miller, who plans on being a pre-med major. “Going for a visit is what sealed the deal for me because it’s a beautiful campus. It’s a family there.”
Her other events include high jump, long jump, 100-meter hurdles, and relays. Johns Hopkins will use Hannah in the heptathlon, which includes seven events.
Miller said her coaches have been integral to her success, always encouraging her teammates and anyone else interested in running to “run fast and turn left.”
“She’s so disciplined, and she’s so driven,” Ursuline assistant coach Candida Francois said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if one day she makes it to the Olympics. She’s that good. She’s definitely gifted.”
