Skulduggery of the week: Pain On The Neck
At 3:48 p.m. on April 27, an employee of the Alexander McQueen store at Highland Park Village reported that shoplifters stole two scarves during separate incidents on April 24 and April 25. The employee became aware of the malfeasance during an inventory of merchandise. In the second theft, the suspect is a woman who took something from the nearby Vince store later the same day. She remained in the store for 20 minutes after tucking the $365 scarf into her purse, purchasing a bag and a separate scarf and filling out a customer contact card with her personal information. That woman has an extensive criminal history involving theft.
HIGHLAND PARK
28 TUESDAY
Between 8 p.m. on April 27 and 9 a.m. on April 28, a vandal damaged a glass patio door in the 3400 block of Beverly Drive, but was unable to bust it down. A house manager noticed that a gate from the front to the backyard was ajar, and found a wood log on the sidewalk that might have been used to strike the door.
29 WEDNESDAY
Between April 8 and April 29, a thief stole a $95,000 diamond and sapphire ring from a house in the 4300 block of Edmondson Avenue. The ring was most likely locked inside a safe, and its owner suspects a new maid might be responsible.
Between 10 p.m. on April 28 and 6:15 a.m. on April 29, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $8,000, from a white 2015 GMC Yukon in the 3600 block of Crescent Avenue. The perpetrator left the SUV sitting on blocks.
30 THURSDAY
Between noon on April 29 and 2 p.m. on April 30, a vandal damaged the locking mechanism of a gate outside a house in the3100 block of Beverly Drive.
1 SATURDAY
At 2:04 a.m., Manuel Angel Mendez, 42, of Grand Prairie was arrested in the 4200 block of Armstrong Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
UNIVERSITY PARK
27 MONDAY
Between 10 p.m. on April 26 and 7 a.m. on April 27, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $3,000, from a silver 2014 GMC Sierra in the 3700 block of Villanova Drive.
Between 10 p.m. on April 26 and 7:30 a.m. on April 27, a burglar entered an unlocked garage in the 2900 block of Hanover Streetand stole $1,220 worth of golf and baseball equipment. The miscreant also broke into an SUV and stole a $200 Fossil purse containing $400 in cash.
At 11:25 p.m., a vandal broke a window of a gray 2014 Infiniti SUV in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway and caused $500 in damage. Nothing was reported stolen.
29 WEDNESDAY
Between 10 p.m. on April 28 and 4:33 a.m. on April 29, a thief stole four tires, valued at $5,000, from a silver 2015 GMC Yukon in the3400 block of Centenary Drive. It appears to be part of a spree, because during the same time frame, someone stole four tires and rims from a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban in the 3500 block of Centenary Drive and left it sitting on blocks, two tires went missing from a black 2015 Cadillac Escalade in the 3400 block of Wentwood Drive, and two tires and rims were taken from a white 2015 Escalade in the 4200 block of Caruth Boulevard.
Between 6 and 8:11 p.m., a burglar broke into a red 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 8400 block of Pickwick Lane and stole a $400 LG compact-disc player and $300 worth of accessories.
30 THURSDAY
At 3:22 a.m., a shoplifter stole $64 worth of Tide detergent from CVS at Park Cities Plaza.
Between 7:30 and 9:28 p.m., a thief stole someone’s $700 iPhone from a store in The Plaza at Preston Center.
At 10:30 p.m., Andrew Michael Donovan, 34, of Houston was arrested at The Plaza at Preston Center on a public intoxication charge.
1 FRIDAY
Between 10 p.m. on April 30 and 6:30 a.m. on May 1, a thief stole four wheels and rims, valued at $4,000, from a black 2015 GMC Denali in the 4200 block of San Carlos Drive.
3 SUNDAY
Between 5 and 6:09 p.m., a vandal slashed a tire on a silver 2012 Jeep in the 3000 block of Rosedale Avenue, causing $500 in damage.
