Ballerinas prepare for Saturday’s performance during a recent dress rehearsal.

City Ballet will celebrate its 65th anniversary with a performance of “The Spell” at 5 p.m. Saturday at McFarlin Auditorium on the SMU campus.

The performance is directed and choreographed by Park Cities resident Evelyn Brown Johnson, whose mother, Denise Brown, founded City Ballet 65 years ago in University Park. It’s currently located in Inwood Village.

The performers will range in age from 3 to 60, with both aspiring ballerinas and professionals in the mix. The performance is free and open to the public.
