St. Mark’s proved its prowess in the pool again last weekend when the Lions successfully defended their championship at the Texas High School Water Polo state tournament in Austin.
The Lions defeated The Woodlands 5-4 in the title game on May 2 to win their second consecutive state crown. California signee Tim Simenc was named the tournament MVP, and St. Mark’s coach Mihai Oprea was honored as well.
The Lions won their fifth state championship overall. Other all-state honorees include Nathan Ondracek, Mason Smith, and George Lin.
