Reenan Leads Lady Scots in Playoff Opener

Any jitters weren’t evident for Highland Park during its playoff debut against Irving on Thursday night.

Amanda Reenan hit two home runs and the Lady Scots crushed Irving 10-5 in the opener of a Class 6A Region II bi-district series. HP will look to close out the Lady Tigers in Game 2 tonight in Irving.

The offensive numbers were impressive for the Lady Scots in Game 1, as they pounded 16 hits, including seven for extra bases. Six players had multiple hits, and HP scored in five of their six innings at the plate.

Rennie Orr followed one of Reenan’s two homers with a long ball of her own. Emily Vandermeer finished with three hits, and those with two apiece included Reenan, Orr, Kate Hodges, Emily Singh, and Sunny Bowden.

Irving scored three times in the top of the first inning, thanks in part to a home run by Justice Rojo, before HP pitcher Katie Bell took control.
