Congratulations to Lamplighter librarian Patricia Vermillion for winning the San Antonio Conservation Society‘s 2015 Children’s Publication Award for her children’s book “Texas Chili? Oh My!”. Lamplighter Spanish teacher Jezabel Guadalupe also provided translation for a Spanish edition titled “Chili Texano? Ay Dois!”

President Sue Ann Pemberton and awards chair Carolyn Frost praised Vermillion’s efforts in their letter to her in December, calling her work an “outstanding contribution toward the accomplishment of the Society’s aim.”

Vermillion is working on her second children’s book “Hound Dawg,” giving a Southern twist to the classic story of “The Little Red Hen.” She will be co-hosting a cornbread cook-off at East Hampton Sandwich Co. in Fort Worth on Saturday April 4. The winning recipe will be included in “Hound Dawg.”
