Scotland Yard Classic Starts on Thursday
Most students in Highland Park ISD are on spring break this week, but the Scots have been hard at work on the baseball diamond.
This weekend, HP will host its annual Scotland Yard Classic tournament in which it will play five games over three days, marking the Scots’ final tuneup before the start of District 10-6A play on Tuesday.
During the tournament, HP will face Denton Guyer (9 a.m. Thursday), Grapevine (11:30 a.m. Thursday), Belton (10 a.m. Friday), Midland (12:30 p.m. Friday), and Jesuit (11 a.m. Saturday). That last game will be played at Globe Life Park in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers.
Coppell and Prosper also will host games as part of the tournament, with other teams in the field including Richland, Rowlett, Rockwall-Heath, Sachse, The Woodlands, and Fort Smith (Ark.) Southside.
The Scots enter the tournament on a roll, after winning all four of their games at the Collin County Invitational last weekend, which was shortened to two days and moved to Scotland Yard because of weather. HP defeated Austin Vandegrift, Trophy Club Byron Nelson, New Caney Porter, and McKinney.
