Academic Decathlon Team Heads to State
We hear plenty about the success of athletic teams at Highland Park High School, but this weekend, a team headed to a state meet will be using its brains more than its arms and legs.
The HPHS Academic Decathlon team will travel to San Antonio for the UIL state competition beginning on Friday after winning the Region X championship last month. Kelsey Shipman won four individual gold medals at regionals, including the overall gold in the Honors division.
Other standouts for HP at the regional meet included Alex Gerrese, Jack Landen, Rousha Nikbeh, Becky Jenkins, Jacqueline Kolling, David Wiegn, Connie Jehng, and Stephen Chambers.
