PVN Residents Find Love 50 Years Later

In need of a little Valentine’s inspiration today? Take it from this couple who resides at Presbyterian Village North. Pat and Noel Pittman were friends in elementary school. Their parents were friends. They went to the same church. But they both grew up to marry other people and have their own families.

By 2008, they had both lost their spouses when a mutual friend reconnected them. They hadn’t seen each other in more than 50 years when they met for coffee at Pat’s house. Coffee led to marriage, which led to the sixth wedding anniversary they are celebrating this year.

“Conversation came pretty easily after a few minutes, and we picked up right where we left off,” Noel said of that first meeting. Pretty soon, the pair were going on dates regularly.

“I’ll never forget, during one of those first few movie outings, when Noel grabbed my hand for the first time. I felt butterflies that I hadn’t felt in years,” she said. “It was like I was floating.”

Pat moved into Presbyterian Village North with Noel after they married, and the two have been active in their community ever since.

“Love is a funny thing. If you’re lucky, it will find you when you least expect it,” Pat said. “You don’t have to go seeking it.”

The pair plan to spend their anniversary on a river cruise this year.
