Greenhill Wins Debate at Old Parkland

Students from Greenhill School competed in the Old Parkland Debate Tournament Jan. 30-31, and took home a win in the high-school division. Their topic, against Team Canada, was “the need to contain the Ebola virus outweighs civil rights concerns.” Relevant for Dallas, no?

Best Speaker for high school was awarded to Mitali Mathur of Greenhill. Students from Hockaday also competed.

“The perspective and points of view we gain from listening to these young adults in the debates is inspiring and thought-provoking,” said Harlan Crow, chairman and CEO of Crow Holdings.

Mayor Mike Rawlings, former state representative Dan Branch, and Harlan Crowe were among the championship round judges.

International students from Cambridge and Oxford competed in the college division finals, with Cambridge taking home the win.
