The Trains at NorthPark officially opened in traditional style, with a “kid conductor” from beneficiary Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Six-year-old Ruth Daniel got to do the honors on Nov. 22. She is a craniofacial patient of Dr. Jeffrey Fearon, honorary co-chair of the event.

“My patients uniformly have nothing but wonderful things to say about the House,” he said.

Daniel was adopted by a family in Tyler and lives with her parents and six siblings. She stayed at the Ronald McDonald House during her surgery in Dallas.

“I was so glad that she had a place to be able to play and have fun and decrease her stress and anxiety about the upcoming surgery,” her mother, Robin Daniel, said.

The 27th Trains at NorthPark exhibit is open through Jan. 4 on Level One near Nordstrom. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for seniors (65 and up) and children (2 to 12), or get a dollar off at Tom Thumb. The exhibit will be closed on Christmas Day and will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, but normal hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, or noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday — a.k.a., normal mall hours.
