Lady Scots Look to Extend Playoff Run
Common sense dictates that the further you advance in the playoffs, the tougher the competition will get. That’s certainly true when examining the path through the Class 6A Region II volleyball bracket for Highland Park.
The Lady Scots (29-15) cruised past Irving MacArthur in four sets in their bi-district match on Tuesday, advancing to play Sachse in the area round tonight. The match will get underway at 7:30 p.m. at Plano East.
The Mustangs (28-15) finished in a three-way tie with Rowlett and Rockwall for the District 11-6A championship during the regular season, but claimed the district’s top playoff seed. They swept past Killeen in the first round on Tuesday.
HP enters the match with plenty of momentum, having lost just twice in its past 16 matches overall. But Sachse has a similar streak of 13 wins in 15 matches.
The winner of tonight’s match will advance to the regional quarterfinals next week, when they might face Waco Midway, a familiar playoff foe for the Lady Scots from their Class 4A days.
