Burgers and Pizza Coming Soon to HPV

Our colleague Nancy Nichols reports on the SideDish blog that K.T. Burger and 5 Creeks Tavern are each coming to Highland Park Village within the next few months, taking over for Toko V and Village Kitchen.

Both are new restaurant concepts from HPV owner Ray Washburne and his business partner Buddy Cramer, whose portfolio already includes local favorites Katy Trail Ice House and Bandito’s Tex-Mex.

K.T. obviously will focus on burgers, while 5 Creeks will feature a Neapolitan handcrafted wood-burning oven for its Italian cuisine. Both should help to bring a more casual element and a local flavor to the HPV dining scene.

Oh goodie! Given the quality of food of the partner’s establishments, I’m betting the replacements will close in six months. If we’re shooting for upscale, how bout a Spago in the Patrizio’s spot.

NFW- Have you tried the burger at the Ice House? It’s off the hook! Senior Buddy is a magician.

HP75, I haven’t tried the burger, but I have eaten several times at the Ice House and been wholly umimpressed. Every time I’ve eaten at Banditos, I have found the fajitas seriously lacking, but I grew up in far south Texas and San Antonio, so my Mexican food standards are pretty high. There are plenty of burger joints in Dallas that serve up a good burger, but I would hope that, given the upscale nature of HPV, we could do better than a burger and pizza joint. I’m for a casual restaurant, but, you gotta admit, it’s pretty unimaginative given Washburn’s upscale vision for the Village.
