Spieth Not Fazed by Ryder Cup Debut
Jordan Spieth had an impressive Ryder Cup debut on Friday, proving again that he belongs with the best in the world.
The Preston Hollow native and former Jesuit standout teamed with fellow rookie Patrick Reed for a dominating victory, 5 and 4, over the European tandem of Ian Poulter and Stephen Gallacher on Friday morning in Gleneagles, Scotland.
In fact, the performance of the two Texans was so impressive that American captain Tom Watson took some heat for sitting out Spieth and Reed during the afternoon fourball competition, some of it coming from the players themselves.
At any rate, the Americans and Europeans ended the first day tied 5-5, with the three-day event running through Sunday. Expect Spieth to be back out there on Saturday.
